Who is JGC

This is me

Most days, I am smart, thoughtful and easygoing. I think I am a little cool. Now that I have said that, I am not so sure. I have a measured approach to fun and I am deeply interested in people and the stuff they do.

I am in love with my family

I can’t get enough of these people. I love them, and I talk about them all the time.

I work hard

I work hard at my job, in my community, on my house, and some days in the gym. I am working on fixing up an old house in the 7th Ward, and the work can seem endless. I practice and teach yoga. I am an avid powerlifter with one competition under my belt, and I cannot wait to do that again.

I make epic birthday cakes

I don’t think I would win Nailed It!, but did make this Star Wars themed space cake that is a rainbow when you cut it open. That’s something, right?

I Care about my communities

I believe in justice for all. This is not a political point of view, it is a moral and ethical point of view. I am committed to the work of ending racism and other organized systems of oppression. I do this by working on myself and stringing together a series of right actions. I have been active in a community-based peer counseling group where I have been able to teach and lead anti-racism work and anti-sexism work.

I have another website called thoughtsbreathactions.com. I use it mostly to communicate about yoga and body acceptance. I make my own fat yogi graphics, and I adore them.
